Adult Education

Adult Education at Temple Kol Ami
Continuing education is one of the highest core values held in Judaism. Temple Kol Ami offers many avenues to those who wish to expand their knowledge and practice of Jewish life.

Schmooze with the Rabbi
Get in the habit of enjoying a taste of current events through a Jewish lens. This group, conducted by Rabbi Schneider, explores current events and issues through the lens of Reform Judaism. Bring your lunch, schmooze, and break up the day with a taste of Judaism. “Schmooze with the Rabbi” meets Wednesdays from Noon – 1:00 pm in the Conference Room.
Aleph – Bet: Adult Hebrew with Hannah
Please join us on Sunday mornings as you are introduced to basic Hebrew with Hannah Adelman. The goal of this time together is to learn the basic letters and vowels and be able to follow the Friday night worship service. This class is a non-pressured environment. Warning: Fun will be had by all. No prior knowledge is required! The class will meet on Sunday mornings during Religious School from 9:05-9:45 am.

Book Review: Portrait of a Spy
Attention all readers who enjoy reading, sharing their views, and hearing others’ perspectives. Join with other TKA members as we review the book Portrait of a Spy. Mark your calendars and save the date: January 24th at 7:00pm.
The main character of this book, Gabriel Allon, is the 21st century Bond – elegantly paced, subtle and well-informed. If you haven’t read Silva before, try Portrait of a Spy – and then go back and read the series. Arlene Lurie will lead the review.

Families of 7th-12th graders; join the community in watching the film: Berlin 36. Based on the true story of Gretel Bergmann who unwittingly became the biggest threat to the Nazi Party in 1936. Berlin was hosting the summer Olympic Games and Gretel was one of Germany's best gold medal contenders. She was also Jewish. Her skill and ethnicity undermined the Nazi belief that Aryans were the superior race, so the German authorities schemed to replace Gretel with another woman -- but "she" had a secret that, if uncovered, could be even more embarrassing to the Nazis, ‘she’ was really a man.
