Shabbat Services

Temple Kol Ami’s major weekly service is held every Friday evening. Using our own Kol Ami prayer book, every participant is encouraged to pray traditionally with each other as a group. We try to make prayer a spiritual adventure from the setting of the seats in the sanctuary to the music we sing together. Our rabbi sits with us in the congregation, because he is a member of the congregation and, with the help of our cantor, we conduct our service together. Our prayer book is read with equal parts of Hebrew and English for the first half of the t’filah (prayers). The second half is done silently, so that one may pray in any manner comfortable to him or her. Our rabbi shares a d’var Torah throughout the t’filah, and the Torah is read as a part of the service. A delicious oneg follows. Shabbat morning services are held when there is a Bar or Bat Mitzvah.

Shabbat services start at 7:00pm, Friday evening.
