Kol Ami Temple Youth (KATY)

Teen youth grouping can be the most memorable experience of ones life. It is where life-long friends are made, and Jewish identities are explored and formed. Under the guidance of our experienced Youth Director, Wendy Herring, with deep involvement of our youth oriented Rabbi Schneider, teens come together to learn and make memories.

Above all, KATY is fun. Whether the Sunday meeting is purely social or Judicially themed, the events are always interactive and experiential, involving the teen physically and emotionally in learning and play. A key value of KATY is Social Action. We are proactive in helping to feed the hungry, provide clothing to the homeless, and helping children in need. Our social action projects are engaging, meaningful, and a great way for teens to learn they are important, and that they can impact their world.

KATY meets on Sunday evenings. Though we would love for the family to be a member of the temple, it is not necessary to join Kol Ami to have your teen be a member of KATY.
Kol Ami Temple Youth is affiliated with the National Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY) and the National Federation of Temple Youth Southwest (NFTY-SW). This partnership grants our teens access to superb national programs and opportunities to meet and interact with Reform Jewish teens from all over the U.S.

For more information about joining KATY, please contact the Temple office 480-951-9660.

Temple Kol Ami is pleased to announce that it has become an official partner with Valley Beit Midrash (VBM). VBM is a collaborative adult education program that brings new, exciting and relevant Jewish learning to the Greater Phoenix Jewish community in a diverse, welcoming, engaging and pluralistic setting.

In this course we will consider different theological responses to the horrors of the Shoah. From ultra-Orthodox rabbis writing at the time of the Shoah to scholars writing decades after the event, we will consider a wide range of responses to the fundamental questions posed by the holocaust.

Cost $60 for 5 sessions

“It is a place where I truly feel welcomed and accepted, especially because my husband is not Jewish. Our children are being raised Jewish and everyone feels very accepted and included at Temple.”
